Some tips to eliminate waste properly

That you throw it in toilet, crush it in the trash can or pour it in the kitchen sink, the shower or the bath, all which passes by in your sewers finished in your septic tank. What takes place in the sewers affects the functioning of your septic system. 


Toilets are not trash cans!
Your septic system is not a trash can.
A rule of thumbs: Rinse nothing other than human waste and the toilet paper.
  
Never rinse:


  • Fat of cooking or oils
  • Disposable wipes
  • Photographic Solutions
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Condoms
  • Dental floss
  • Diapers
  • Cigarette butt
  • Powder or ground coffee bean
  • Cat litter
  • Paper towels
  • Medecine (drugs)
  • Chemicals such as gasoline, oil, pesticides, antifreeze and paint or paint.  

    Think of the kitchen sink!
    Your septic system contains a collection of live bacterias which digest and treats household waste. To pour toxin into your drain can kill these bacterias and damage your septic system. 


That you are at the sink in the kitchen, the bathtub or at the washbasin:


• Avoid chemical solvents for a clogged drain. Instead of it, use some boiling water or a snake of drainage.

• Never pour or dispose of fat of cooking or oil into sewers.

• Never pour oil paint, solvents or big volumes of toxic cleaners in sewers.

  Even the waste of latex paint should be minimized.

• Eliminate or limit the use of a waste disposal unit. It will allow reducing considerably the quantity of fats and solids which penetrates into your septic tank and, after all, blocks its field of drainage.

Your septic field - A component of your septic system which eliminates the contaminants of the liquid which escapes from your septic tank - is an important part of your septic system.


Here are some things which you should do to maintain it:

Parking: Never park or drive on your septic field    

  • Plantation: Plant trees at the appropriate distance of your septic field to prevent the roots from growing in your septic system. A septic service professional can advise you on the right distance, according to your septic tank and your landscape.
  • Implementation: Keep the roof gutters (rain water), sump pumps and any other drainage pipes distant from your septic installations. The excess of water slows down or stops the wastewater treatment process.
  • Never push snow on or near the septic field.
  • Maintain the surface of the septic field, (cut the lawn).
  • Do not make hydraulic overloads of water to help the ground to absorb better.
  • Rehabilitation of septic fields
